If I told you that you could get to your ideal weight by enjoying a large dinner, eating after 7 PM, indulging in some of your favorite desserts and snacks, and you wouldn’t have to cut out any food groups would that sound too good to be true?
That is the premise of the new book, Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion.
Bestselling author, Joel Marion, is a fitness expert and nutritionist debunking the myths underlying traditional dieting and offers a simple, highly effective weight loss program. This book challenges all of the traditional “rules” we’ve learned about losing weight and eating healthy, which immediately piqued my interest.
For so long I have seen articles and books touting how important breakfast is, how bad it is to eat right before bed, and how bad it is to indulge in (insert whichever) carbs, fat, sugar, etc. Personally, I don’t like the word “diet” because more often than not diets tell you one thing is bad and another is good. I prefer moderation and paying attention to the cues that your body gives you. I have always either skipped breakfast or waited till later in the day to eat breakfast, and I’m more of a late evening dinner kinda gal. Most “diets” don’t appeal to me, because my natural inclination is to eat when I feel hungry, and I can’t force myself to eat a large breakfast first thing after I awake.
The Always Eat After 7 PM Three Phase plan consists of:
- The 14-day Acceleration Phase to kick-start the program and see rapid results.
- The Main Phase is where you get to know the exact foods to eat and when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals.
- The Lifestyle Phase teaches how to keep the weight off for good.
I’m impressed that this is a three phase plan because, in my opinion, most “diets” aren’t sustainable in the long run. It’s hard to completely cut out anything for long periods of time, and purchasing meal plans or extensive supplements isn’t always convenient or manageable. Once weight is lost many people return to the things they cut out or the habits that they stopped, and then the weight comes back.
According to Always Eat After 7 PM, scientific research shows us that those diet models are not the most ideal. According to the book:
Fact is, most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a miserable, unsustainable experience.”
YES!! This is why I don’t take part in most of “diet culture”, I believe in body positivity and am more into intuitive eating. I am interested in learning more about this program since I have been making lifestyle changes for myself over the past few years. I know that what we put into our bodies plays a large part in our overall health. This book also states that some of the benefits of this plan include more energy and deeper sleep. Who could use more of that? With the added bonus of losing some excess pounds, I am excited to start this program.
Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7 PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance. Check out some of his tips from the book in this video:
