This year we are doing something a bit different for Easter. Normally we stay home and arrange an Easter egg hunt for the little guys, surprise them with Easter baskets and keep it pretty low key. I’ll make a ham and some roasted asparagus, everyone will munch on some deviled eggs and peanut butter cookies and we’ll keep it simple. Well, this year we’ve decided to take a road trip and visit our family in Las Vegas. The boys can have a blast with their cousins for Easter and we’ll make some pretty fun memories. We are so excited!
I was at my local CVS this past weekend stocking up on things we need for our road trip and while I was browsing the aisles I couldn’t help but notice that M&M’s® Crispy are back by popular demand! Have you ever tried them? If you aren’t familiar, M&M’s® Crispy is covered with delicious milk chocolate and a crispy rice center, and they are just 180 calories per serving. I picked up a few bags with some ideas for our Easter trip, since you know I love to make recipes with M&M’s!
My plan was to create a recipe that everyone can snack on while the kids are having fun and the family is enjoying their Easter Sunday. I wanted minimal ingredients with low effort, but something that would serve the whole family and be a memorable little snack. Everyone loves fruit and graham crackers, so I thought a fruit dip would be just perfect.
One of my favorite flavors growing up was orange cream. I enjoyed it both in frozen treats and in soda, so I thought it would be fun to create an orange cream dip for the fruits and crackers that I plan on serving. The M&M’s® Crispy goes so well on top because of the crunch. The dip is yogurt based with orange juice and orange zest which creates that hint of orange and I included some marshmallow cream for some thickness and to create that creamy flavor.
Of course I had to make a trial run of this dip if I plan on making it while I’m out of town. I also picked up some eggs for the Easter egg hunt we’ll be having and while I was counting out the eggs and making sure I had enough candy to fill them all I thoroughly enjoyed snacking on this dip. I used the larger bags to fill the eggs with, while sneaking a few of the crispy candies of my own.
Of course you can’t have an Easter egg hunt without a lucky golden egg. I plan on adding some stickers to each candy filled egg and the lucky winner of the golden egg will win some money! It’s going to be so fun, and the kids are just so excited.
