What is it about warmer weather that makes you instantly crave smoothies and bright colors, or is that just me?
I’m not sure, but I’m telling you this raspberry pineapple banana smoothie embodies the seasonal change. I mean, it’s made with pineapples which always makes me think of some tropical destination and bananas which I basically throw into every smoothie I make because it adds that creaminess and texture that just works so well in a good smoothie. And raspeberries.. ahh, I love raspberries. Don’t you? As a California girl, raspberries are pretty common year round, but there’s just a special something about mixing raspberry with pineapple that’s just so springtime fresh to me. Don’t you agree?
And the colors.. ahh, pink and yellow. So charming and whimsical. Girlie, sweet with a little punch of flavor. That’s exactly what these smoothies taste like. Typically in the warmer weather I’m drinking a lot of my meals. I live for smoothies, ever since I was a young girl and I started going to the mall without my parents. Do you remember those little smoothie spots in the food court? I just HAD to get one, every time. A pretzel too, but I digress.
You should try this smoothie too. Today. Your day deserves to be a little brighter, and there’s something to be said about sipping your nutrition through a straw. For extra whimsy, add some fruit garnish or even a paper umbrella!
Ingredients:
- 5 ice cubes
- 1/2 cup lowfat or nonfat vanilla yogurt
- 1 medium ripe banana
- 12 raspberries
- 1 cup undrained crushed pineapples
Directions:
You’ll want to add the heavier ingredients to the bottom. Ice, berries, then the bananas, yogurt and the pineapple.
You can even add some chia seeds or kale for some extra nutrients. It’s all fun, I usually just make smoothies with whatever I have on hand.
Pulse a few times to break up the ice, then blend on low, gradually going faster until it’s smooth.
Pour into two glasses, add some more fruit for garnish, or a paper umbrella.
Stick a straw in it and enjoy!
