household Life Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean #MC

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for OxiClean. I received three product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

It’s been a little over a month since our move and I’m still getting accustomed to our new home. We’ve unpacked and gotten our belongings in place, but somewhere along the way I managed to sprain my ankle. For the past few weeks I’ve been attempting to nurse myself back to health as well as get my house in order. There’s only so much that can be done in one day. The laundry piled up, my clothes didn’t get unpacked, and the dishes didn’t get washed to my liking. Now that I’m feeling better we’re also preparing for a birthday party this weekend, so Spring cleaning is in full effect. I discovered these new products from OxiClean just in time.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

We have a houseful of boys, and little boys can be messy. They love to dig up the dirt in the backyard, run around at the park, and make sticky messes with their food. Needless to say laundry can be quite the task, especially on some of my favorite clothing. I’m so excited about the new OxiClean White Revive Laundry Stain Remover. It offers “bleach-like” whitening without the damaging effects of chlorine, it can erase some of the toughest stains and will keep whites looking newer longer. It works with your detergent to revive dingy whites and maintain them without color damage. I know some of these claims can be repetitive, most new products carry the same claims but they just don’t deliver. So I figured I’d put it to the test with my favorite preschooler. I had a basket of his whites to wash and tested them out with the OxiClean White Revive Laundry Stain Remover paired with the OxiClean Laundry Detergent.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

I was pleasantly surprised! Grass, grease, dirt, red juice and spills were erased. Some of his whites aren’t solid. There’s patterns and even other colors and the whites got whiter and the colors didn’t fade. There was one shirt that had some stubborn stains that didn’t come out, but I didn’t soak it either. I’m betting those would come out once presoaked as directed.

After I washed his whites, I threw his colors in the wash too using just the OxiClean Laundry Detergent. This detergent works great on its own, it penetrates fabrics and infuses clothes with three powerful stain-fighters. Oh, and the scent? I have a weakness for a wonderful smelling laundry detergent, and this one is it. Everything smelled clean and fresh, without overpowering your senses. The detergent has stain fighters that can lift away many difficult stains like oil, grease, grass, even red wine! It’s available in liquid form as well as detergent paks.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

No presoaking and the dirt and grass stains came right out!

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

He spilled RED JUICE on the shoulder of one of his favorite play shirts. I thought this shirt was done for, but it came right out! The smaller stains were still there, but I’m betting they’d come out if I presoaked.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

This towel cleaned up a major spill on our floor. It was food and tea, and it all came out with no presoaking. The towel is vivid and bright, with no sign of any stains.

Once I got the laundry out of the way, I felt like I was on a roll. My kids all have chores in the house, which includes dishes and dishwasher duties. Because we have such a large family and I also like to cook a lot, we always seem to have dirty dishes piled up. Sometimes it seems never ending, we wash a full sink 2-3 times a day! Even though the kids do it as a chore, I often go behind them to rinse the dishes better before running the dishwasher, or to even rearrange them in the dishwasher (I know I’m not alone in this!). Since I don’t have the time to always do dishes behind other people, I like the idea of the OxiClean 4X Extreme Power Crystals.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

Not having to scrub the sink full of dishes before loading them into the dishwasher is a HUGE timesaver!

It’s a powerful dishwasher detergent that breaks up food on dishes and leaves your dishwasher smelling fresh. The Power Crystals dissolve cloudy film and spots on dishware, lifting away stains, even lipstick on cups and tomato stains on plastics! I had to see for myself, so I deliberately only rinsed my dishes – not even using my sponge at all while loading the dishwasher.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

Just a little bit of this goes a long way.

I was concerned some food might harden and get stuck on the dishes, but sure enough everything was spotless and shiny! I had a bowl that had peanut butter stuck to it and it was shiny and clear. The dishes were so clean that when you rub your finger on them they squeak. That’s always been a favorite way to check.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

I could tell it worked well as soon as I opened the dishwasher. It smelled fresh and everything was so shiny!

No water stains on my glasses either. I had a plastic plate that had pancake syrup stuck to it before I ran the dishwasher, and that was perfectly clean too. This will definitely save me time around the house, the kids can do their chores and I won’t be checking behind them anymore. I love how the detergent is actually dry and not a liquid too.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

There was peanut butter on this bowl! It came right off with no residue and left the bowl squeaky clean.

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

No water stains on my glasses and they are gorgeous and shiny with no film. Squeaky clean!

Spring Cleaning with OxiClean

Many of these had food on them, and they are all shiny and clean without a trace of anything left. No water stains on the spoons or knives either.

I found these products all worked better than expected, which is great news for me. It’ll save me time on the essential everyday things like laundry and dishes because it does so much of the work for me. That way I can focus on the more tedious aspects of Spring Cleaning, like purging our closets, pulling weeds from our garden, and sorting socks.

[Sponsored]: Summertime is coming and will be here before we know it! You all know that I love easy meals during the warmer months, and I also love a good meal in a bowl. It’s also Vidalia Onion season 🧅 so I paired this seasonal favorite with pan-seared shrimp and veggies as a light rice bowl using your choice of grains.☺️This meal is an absolute delight!

(AD) There has been a lot of cooking going on this year, so I’ve tried to make life a bit easier by getting creative with my leftovers. These pulled pork totchos are a great example of leftovers with a few key ingredients to create something new to keep our meals exciting. Adding a few key ingredients like @lamorenausa adobo peppers and jalapeños and carrots definitely livens up something simple. La Morena peppers are hand selected, using only the highest quality peppers to bring you authentic home style flavors of Mexico. I purchased my La Morena items from my local Safeway, but you can find them at your favorite grocery store in the international food section. #PayItForwardwithLM #VivaLaMorena #WeCanWithLaMorena

INGREDIENTS:
- 32 oz tater tots
- 2 cups shredded cheese (Mexican blend + Pepper Jack)
- 2 cups prepared bbq pulled pork (check my pulled pork sliders recipe!)
- 1/2 can La Morena Adobo Peppers & Sauce
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 2 tablespoons ranch dressing
- 1 cup pico de Gallo
- 1/2 cup guacamole
- 3 chopped green onions
- 3-4 La Morena jalapeños and carrots, sliced

INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare tater tots as instructed, in air fryer or oven. Heat oven to 450°.
Cover the bottom of a large cast iron skillet with the cooked tater tots.
Top with 1 1/2 cup of cheese.
Combine the chopped adobo peppers and sauce with the prepared bbq pulled pork. Spread the pulled pork mixture on top of the tater tots, then top with the remaining cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes.
Top with sour cream, ranch, pico de Gallo, guacamole, green onions, and sliced jalapeños and carrots.

Enjoy!! 😋

Happy December, all!! 🎄Since it’s basically Christmas now, it’s time to share ALL the holiday cookies!

Every year I join my friend @natashanicholes as she heads up her #HousefulofCookies virtual cookie swap, where many of us share some sweet treats for the holiday season.

This year I’ve created Cranberry Pistachio Citrus Cookies to share as my contribution. 🍪 I know that a lot of things have turned “virtual” throughout this year, but a little virtual bake-off is a fun way to connect with some of your favorite people!

Hello Instagram fam! 💖 There’s some new faces around here and it’s been a while since I showed mine!

I’m Dawn, creator of Mama Harris’ Kitchen, and I’m so glad you’re here with me! In this space I share my family-friendly recipes for all occasions, whether it be a 30-minute meal for those busy weeknight dinners or a full spread for entertaining a crowd - and everything in between.

Mama Harris’ Kitchen began back in 2012, in fact it’s 8 years this month! 🥳 What started as a way to document my newfound cooking hobby while managing my “new” life as a stay-at-home wife and mom to a 1 and 3 year along with teens and preteens, and it quickly grew into what it is now - a recipe resource for busy families like mine that enjoy flavorful and comforting home-cooking using pantry staples along with fresh and local ingredients as often as possible.

🍿Five fun facts about me:
1. I LOVE elephants! 🐘 I collect a lot of elephant items, whether it’s trinkets or artwork, notepads etc. I love what elephants symbolize and I truly love anything elephant related.
2. I’m a total plant lady! 🌱 I have about 35 houseplants, give or take, and there’s still more on the list of wants. Plants have become such a peaceful outlet for me, and I feel that they really center me within my space. I love the element plants bring to your space and the feel of your home with them in it, and new leaves are so exciting!
3. I have seven tattoos and I have plans for about eight more. 💉 Those that know me aren’t surprised, but those that follow me here tend to find it a bit surprising. 🙃
4. I’ve been a mother for a long time, over half my life! I’ve also been a lot of different “types” of mom - teen mom, single mom, working mom, stepmom, stay at home mom, PROUD mom, military mom, mother in law - the list goes on. No matter what, motherhood looks different for everyone and there’s unique challenges and experiences each mother faces. Please be gentle with yourself! ❤️At the end of the day we’re all just trying our best!
5. I’m a bit of an introvert, and often struggle with the “social” aspect of social media. I tend to go silent sometimes, but I’m working on it.

☀️Thank you for joining me here!
