I don’t know about you, but I’m the reigning queen of doing too much. I’ll commit to a variety of projects, events and appointments without taking into consideration all of the other things I have going on. Because I’m usually overbooked and short on time, I’ll put myself last and I won’t take enough breaks to recharge my energy, then it ends up affecting me even more in the long run. It throws my days and my family time completely off balance and it can get hard to get back.
We all need a break sometimes!
My family and my kids constantly remind me to slow down and make things easier on myself. So the next time you find yourself anxious, stressed out, and feeling like there’s not enough time in the day, give yourself a break and recharge. You deserve to get yourself back to balance!
While taking a break of my own roaming the aisles of Walmart, I discovered that SKINNY COW™ now has Creamy Iced Coffee in three dreamy flavors, with only 120 calories per bottle. Add a delicious chocolaty candy with only 130 calories per pouch, and I’m more than happy to take a coffee break any time! If you’re a coffee fan like I am, then you can appreciate any excuse to take a coffee break. I’ve come up with five, but given the chance I think I can come up with even more reasons enjoy some time alone with my favorite smooth, sweet drink!
1. You’re stressed out.
I get it.You have sooooo much to do, and not enough time to do it. There’s laundry to be done, you have two appointments, the kids’ homework needs to get done and you have to start dinner. It seems insane to stop what you’re doing at times like this, but it’s actually beneficial. In order to gain clarity and refocus your energy on what matters, sometimes you just need to take a 5 minute break.
2. You don’t notice the little things.
Maybe it’s been days since you looked up to notice a beautiful sunset, or you can’t even remember the last time you took a walk just to admire the roses and get some fresh air. Get back to basics and savor the moments. Give yourself a break, you deserve it!
3. You’re short on patience.
Maybe you snap at your kids for something small, or your coworker is irritating you with her constant chatter. Sometimes you just need some time to enjoy the silence and realize that maybe they aren’t so bad after all.
4. You’re in a creative funk.
I know when I’m trying to come up with an idea, or I’m plugging away at something and just can’t get into it, I just need a break. A change of scenery for a few minutes and taking some time for yourself will help get the ideas rolling fast.
5. You just don’t give yourself enough breaks.
I’m a workaholic and I will plug away until things are done. Sometimes that can take hours and hours and I’ll just keep on going until I’m done. That’s a bad habit of mine. Whether you’re staring at a computer all day or your time is spent with little ones, you absolutely need to take a break sometimes. Self-care is essential.
Maybe I’m just creating a list as an excuse for some coffee. I’ll accept that.
But it’s also a reminder to take some time for yourself. When I’m overworked, overloaded and stressed out, a break of any sort helps in the biggest way. Add some coffee to sweeten the deal, and I’m a happy camper.
Now that I can have an iced coffee and a package of chocolaty candy for less calories than your typical fancy coffeehouse would offer for one cup of the good stuff, it makes my break times twice as nice.
You can find your own bottle of SKINNY COW™ Creamy Iced Coffee in the refrigerated drinks section at your local Walmart. Check out the candy aisle for the indulgent sweets with little guilt.

I can totally relate to this! I think that when you work a real (hard) job, like we do, AT HOME, it can be hard to separate work and home life. Everything is merged. It’s murky and blurry (to us, not the kids and family – because they SEE it). We really do need to take breaks, for all the reasons you mentioned, and to transition from “work to home” in our special way. Thanks so much for sharing this honest post! #client
