We’ve finally made it to the end of 2014!!
I can’t believe an entire year has passed, so much has happened! From a full redesign of MamaHarrisKitchen.com, travelling to Arkansas and Florida, and even being on tv {!!} this year has been an eventful one. I’ve developed some recipes I’m pretty proud of, honed my photography skills a bit more and set some goals on where I’d like to take this little space of mine on the web. At the beginning of the year both the littlest boys were home with me 24/7 and now we have a kindergartner and a preschooler. Two of my kids are in high school and my eldest has a really great career ahead of him at a great company. 2015 is setting up to look like a very good year for my family and I can’t wait to move forward.
2014 also had some really great food around here. I’ve gathered up my top ten recipes that I shared in 2014 that also received the most traffic in the last 12 months. Since you all loved them so much the first time, I thought I’d share them again.
10. Baked Spice Cake Doughnuts made with Olive Oil
I really loved these doughnuts, I developed them as a part of my ambassadorship with Pompeian and they are made with olive oil instead of butter or other oil. In addition to the olive oil being a part of the batter, after they were baked I also brushed them with olive oil again before covering them in cinnamon sugar. They were marvelous!
9. Berry Overload Bundt Cake with Vanilla Bean Glaze
This cake was made from FOUR different kinds of Driscoll’s berries, in addition to orange and lemon zest, topped with a vanilla bean glaze. It’s quite magical and delicious for any occasion.
8. Orange-Cranberry Scones with Cinnamon-Citrus Glaze
I impressed myself with these scones! The flavor profile alone is perfect for the Fall weather, just before Christmas. But I include a little surprise ingredient that really makes for a bit of a lighter scone and a great taste.
7. Chicken Nuggets and Mac & Cheese Pinwheels
These little pinwheels were so much fun for the boys after a long day of summertime fun. With favorites like chicken nuggets and mac & cheese combined with veggies and served with fruit it was a happy meal for the youngest guys.
6. Creative Ideas with Pillsbury Pizza Crust
We got together as a family and came up with some really creative recipes to use for this Pillsbury Pizza Crust. Looking back on these photos really makes me smile since they were taken just about a year ago. The kids really enjoyed rolling out the dough, shredding the cheese and putting this meal together.
5. Breakfast Egg Rolls
Since I love breakfast in any form, this was a twist on my usual and it ended up being fun and different. Served with salsa this is a fun brunch option or weekend breakfast idea.
4. Cheesy Roasted Potato Skins
These potato skins rival any that you can order at a restaurant. My family (mainly the husband) asks for these often and they are the first tray empty at any of our parties. These are a favorite of ours and I’m so glad they are also a favorite of my readers.
3. Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Biscotti and a Café Cocoa Recipe
Another fun recipe, pumpkin and snickerdoodles – served as biscotti to dip into coffee. This sounds like a dream come true and it worked out well!
2. 2 Ingredient Brownie, with Candy on Top!
These brownies were seriously made out of two ingredients! Then dressed up just a bit by adding melted chocolate and chopped up Snickers bars. What more could you want?
1. 3 “Must-Have” Foods for the Big Game!
My number one post for the year was sharing three great recipes that are essential for game day. Since the Big Game is coming up again, make sure to revisit this post. I have a feeling that most of the traffic is coming for the seven layer dip (which is amazing!) but those beans are also spectacular and that pulled pork is amazing as well!
Did any of your favorites make the list? What would you like to see more of in 2015?
Wishing you a Happy New Year!!

No joke, I’m in love with your site. I’m always looking for new recipes and clearly, your page is the place for such. I recently started toying with making homemade donuts. It’s much easier than I expected.
