Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Sprint. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.
You may remember a few times over the past few months I’ve shared with you that I’m working with Sprint as an ambassador and I’ll be sharing my experiences with Sprint products and service through the remainder of the year. Speaking of which, we’re over halfway through 2014 and smack dab in the middle of summer now. How did that happen? I don’t know about you, but summer for me means a lot of cooling down and fun. Beaches, water parks, swimming pools and even water balloon fights! More times than I can name my little ones have been found in the backyard spraying water on each other and playing in the mud. It’s all in fun, and boys will be boys, but sometimes when playing referee technology can get a little messy. More often than not, I find myself frantically checking my phone and making sure it didn’t get wet — or worse, dropped in water!
Thankfully this month I received the Kyocera Hydro Vibe Waterproof 4G LTE smartphone from Sprint. It’s a handsome phone that fits very well in my hand, but what struck me immediately was the fact that it’s water resistant! Ask any mom in the summertime and she’d assure you that this is her kind of phone!
The Kyocera Hydro Vibe Waterproof 4G LTE is WATER RESISTANT for up to 30 minutes in 3 feet or less of water!
In addition, this phone comes with a Smart Sonic Receiver, 102 GHz quad-core processor and an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and video camera. The 2,000mAh battery provides up to 14 hours of talk time and this phone runs on the Android 4.3 operating sytem. I also like that the packaging for the phone comes in is made out of recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.
Also, as part of Sprint’s offerings on this new device, the Kyocera Hydro Vibe Waterproof 4G LTE smartphone will have the added benefit of running on the Sprint Spark network, which enhances the phone’s LTE service, allowing for high quality video.
My Thoughts
I think this is a great phone for teens that are getting their first smart phone and learning the ins and outs, or for older adults who want to migrate into smartphone usage but may be easily confused by too many options. It’s a great entry-level android phone, so even someone like me who is used to other smartphones that are run on different platforms, this phone is a littler easier to master than other Android phones.
I also like the fact that it’s both water-resistant and impact resistant, since the rear part of the phone is made of materials that can be found on easy grip cell phone cases. Because of these features I have no qualms about letting my littlest ones play with educational apps on the phone or watch their favorite shows on it. I also gave it to RiRi to use when she went to a theme park last week, knowing that she’d be going on the water rides and the phone would probably take a beating. It came through like a champ and she loves listening to all her music with that long battery time, so it’s a win/win!
The Bottom Line
This phone is a great option for an entry level Android phone, one that will stand up to all of life’s spills! If you’re interested in learning more you can find pricing and additional information on the Sprint website for the Kyocera Hydro Vibe Waterproof 4G LTE smartphone.

I have had the Kyocera Hydro (an older version) for about a year now. I got it after my youngest decided to take mine for a swim in the bathtub. While I love it, I need to upgrade a bit. I might be going this route. Thanks for the review. 🙂
