Today is officially the first day of summer, but it’s been “summertime” for almost a month in my house. The kids have been out of school for about three weeks now, and I’m exhausted! Don’t get me wrong, I love having my kids home for the summer, but between the older ones wanting to stay up late because it’s their summer and the younger ones still getting up super early I am one tired Mama! Add to that the fact that I do attempt to get some work in – writing & testing recipes, editing photos, planning out both my work schedule and our family schedule and of course sharing these wonderful recipes here – man, I’m exhausted!! After about the fifth time of taking the entire Harris Crew to the store for the week, I needed a recharge FAST! I almost forgot too, but right there in the checkout aisle I found just what I needed – a few 20 ounces of Dr Pepper and a couple SNICKERS® 2-to-go bars to refuel my energy. Of course Walmart always has the greatest deals and prices.
Once I got home and got to snacking, I was feeling rather inspired and decided why not create a fun recipe with these very items? Summer is all about fun, and anytime we find something to make for the kids that we can take on a roadtrip or bring to a picnic as snacks or goodies that are super easy to make (and not to mention delicious!) we feel like winners. So why not mix these two simple treats together to create a super easy and delightful treat that the kids are sure to love this summer? Trust me, it’s SUPER simple! All you need is a box of brownie mix, a 20 ounce of Dr Pepper, some baking chocolate or chocolate chips and a SNICKERS® 2-to-go!
Now I’m no stranger to baking with soda, I have a rather popular cake listed here that generates alot of buzz. However, this one is a little different, since it’s just two ingredients! I actually looked it up when I thought of this idea, because I’ve heard of it before but I’ve just never done it with a mix. According to this article, you can substitute all liquids (including eggs!) with soda! So water, oil, milk would be measured with the same measurement, and then for each egg you measure another 1/4 cup of soda. The result is a light, fluffy brownie with a nice little crumble that’s moist and has all the best traits of a pound cake, but tastes like a brownie. I melted a bit of chocolate on top and sprinkled some cut up SNICKERS® 2-to-go and we had an instant treat. Easiest dessert I’ve ever made, and your family is sure to love it.
2 Ingredient Brownies PLUS Candy Topping Ingredients:
- 1 box of Brownie mix
- 1 (20 ounce) bottle of Dr Pepper
- 2-3 tablespoons of milk chocolate chips
- 1 SNICKERS® 2-to-go
Instructions:
Preheat oven according to package specifications on the boxed mix.
Measure out liquids needed in boxed mix, and replace them all with the same measurement of Dr Pepper. For each egg measure 1/4 cup.
Pour brownie mix in a large mixing bowl, then pour the measured Dr Pepper in with it.
Mix until well combined.
Pour into a well greased 8×8 pan (you can also use 9×9 or 13×9, I just like my brownies thick).
Bake in the preheated oven, according to package instructions for your pan size and type.
Start checking about 10 minutes before the time is up, as the brownies will cook just a bit differently and may be done sooner.
Remove from oven once a toothpick inserted into the center comes out relatively clean.
While brownies are cooling, melt the chocolate chips.
They can be melted in a microwave safe bowl for 20 seconds at a time, then mixing after each time being heated.
Continue mixing until melted and smooth.
Slice up the SNICKERS® 2-to-go bars by cutting into slices, then quartering so it’s a thin piece.
Once the brownies are cool, cut into squares.
Drizzle melted chocolate over the top, then drop a few pieces of SNICKERS® 2-to-go candy on top.

Judy Salvador says
Can you use diet Dr. pepper instead of the regular Dr. Pepper?
MamaHarris says
Hi Judy, yes you can!

I attempted to make for my son-in-law. He loves Dr Pepper and Snickers, but they never got done in middle and almost burnt elsewhere. Next time I’ll use 13×9 pan. Thanks
