The past few months have been pretty hectic in the Harris household. Somewhere among the chaos, we had a few birthdays to celebrate. My oldest turned 19 in the beginning of January, and then D-Man turned 5 at the end of that month, and RoRo turns 4 next week. A few weeks later RiRi turns 14 too, and then right after that is Big G’s birthday and then mine. It’s pretty safe to say that every year it’s hectic from January to May and we get tired of cake fast! This year we decided to try something different. Since we moved so soon after D-Man’s birthday, we decided to have a party a few weeks later and combine it with RoRo’s birthday. We’d planned to meet in the middle of their birthdays, which would have been the first week of March. Unfortunately we postponed that party because I somehow sprained my ankle around that time and I was under doctors orders to stay off my feet. In addition, my dad was moving back to California, so we decided to have the party the week after he moved here when my foot was all healed.
The boys loved sharing a birthday, we opened up our home to friends and family that hadn’t had a chance to visit since our move, and it worked out so well that the boys asked if we could do it this way for a few more years. Since everyone always asks if they’re twins anyway, why not just have a big party for them both?
Thankfully I was one of the many bloggers picked to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration around the same time we were planning our two in one party. I received a suitcase full of goodies to help facilitate and decorate our party, and of course it was in the perfect theme for my boys. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! It was so easy to plan with this theme, the colors are so fun and exciting. I went to my favorite cake guy and we got two different cakes made for each of the boys. We also got a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse style bounce house for the kids and I made a few Mickey Mouse themed foods to serve to our guests.
We had a wonderful time with our family and friends, the kids bounced away all night and the older kids enjoyed decorating t-shirts with the fabric markers. We had a pinata full of candy and all the little ones that came were all boys, which was perfect. We had beautiful weather and a fun time, so our #DisneySide party was officially a success!
