Christmas Christmas food cinnamon cocktail drink egg nog holidays New Year's NYE recipe Southern Comfort spiked White Chocolate Liqueur

White Chocolate Spiked Egg Nog

White Chocolate Spiked Egg Nog Recipe - Mama Harris' KitchenEgg nog, that traditional creamy drink that just takes you back to childhood. Yum.

I was always a huge fan of egg nog, preferring it over anything else all during the holiday season. I remember going to my aunt’s house for Christmas every year, and the adults would have theirs spiked and I would have my egg nog in a pretty wine glass and clink my glass with theirs while saying cheers to family and the holidays. Those are some of my best memories.

As I’ve gotten older my love for egg nog has not wavered. I’ve tried it spiked before, but honestly preferred it in the traditional way for much of my adult life. There’s just something to be said about tradition, nothing too fancy or fussy.

However, I decided to expand my tastes a bit recently and found something I absolutely love! Many moons ago I used to be a cocktail waitress for a few years while I was in college and one of the bartenders even named a cocktail after me. I don’t want to divulge all of my secrets and give away that recipe just yet, but I will tell you one of the ingredients was Southern Comfort. Even though it’s a dark liquor, Southern Comfort has a sweetness to it that I like without being too strong or heavy. It pairs well with a variety of mix-ins, so I decided to try my hand at a spiked Egg Nog and make it a mash-up of my two favorites – Egg Nog and Southern Comfort. As a special twist, I also added a white chocolate liqueur and dusted the rim with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Oh, it was divine! Since the Southern Comfort already has a bit of sweetness to it, the white chocolate liqueur added a bit of depth to it without sacrificing that delicious natural taste of egg nog. With a slight shake of a bit of nutmeg, you’re set to entertain for Christmas or even New Year’s Eve!

Ingredients:

  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 1 ounce white chocolate liqueur
  • 6 ounces egg nog (chilled)
  • nutmeg

Directions:

(Martini glasses are probably your best bet) Turn the glass upside down and wet the rim with water. Dip the wet rim into the cinnamon/brown sugar mixture until evenly coated. Set aside.
