In this house, there’s one thing we can never have enough of. Quality fruits and vegetables. From on the go snacks, to side dishes and ingredients for a main meal, they are always in high demand around here. With three older kids that eat as much as my husband and I combined, and two younger children that we are trying to teach healthy food choices to, this is an area that will probably always need replenishing for us.
When I found out about a company, Farm Fresh to You, that brings fresh picked organic fruits and vegetables straight to your doorstep I was already prepared to give them my money. I mean, fresh fruit and vegetables? Delivered to your door? YES!
I logged into their website, aware that they ship to select locations in California. I was crossing my fingers that my zip code was one of them, and sure enough it was! (Click Here to see if they deliver in your area too!) There’s a few different packages that are available for order, and you can also customize the items to your liking. You can get fruit only, veggie only, or a combination of the two. You can also order a snack pack or a no cooking package. I opted for the Mixed Fruit and Veggie: More package which is $46. You can choose from three different sizes: Small, Medium, and More. You can also choose your delivery schedule. If you want it weekly, biweekly, every three weeks, or four weeks. You can customize your order too! Upon ordering you will be told your delivery date, and you will have up to 2 day prior to customize your order. If you don’t like one thing, or would like to add a little more or less of an item, you can! There’s also some pretty cool add-on items. You can order honey, oils, and even fresh cut flowers or farm fresh eggs to your order for an additional price.
I was so excited for my order to come, and what’s really great is they deliver it to you in the early morning so your food won’t spoil. That made me glad, because the week I ordered we were still having triple digit weather and I was concerned about the shape my produce would be in. Sure enough, it was on my porch the night before my delivery date and all of the produce was in wonderful shape. I decided for the vegetables I’d order some items I wouldn’t normally pick out, just because I wanted to sort of branch out and try some new things. Among the items were green cabbage, gypsy peppers, cucumber, rainbow carrots, purple bell peppers, zucchini, fennel, mini sweet mix peppers, mixed medley cherry tomatoes and red beets. For the fruit I went with some favorites like cantaloupe, three types of pears, mangoes, pomegranate, red grapes, and honeycrisp apples. Unfortunately the apples were out of stock by the time my order was processed, but I was given an opportunity to add something else. However, I decided it was more than enough and we’d just make do without apples. I also ordered an herbal beverage kit that smells divine. I figured we love tea and we also like to drink infused water, so this would be a fun addition to play around with.
What I really liked was that each box came with a list of what was included, as well as a newsletter from the farms so you can really get a glimpse of the process behind how your food was received. The quality of your items is what you’d expect from a farmer’s market. Big, delicious produce. Sweet tomatoes. Plump grapes that are sweet and delicious. Everything I tried was amazing, and I just love the convenience. I remember shortly after having my youngest child my husband got called away to work out of state for two months. This was my first c-section baby and although the older kids were in school, I couldn’t drive much those first few weeks when my husband was gone. This box would have been a lifesaver, and so appreciated.
Speaking of being a lifesaver, once you sign up for an account, there’s a way to gift a box to a friend. So if you know someone who just had a baby, who’s sick and can’t get out much, or maybe a loved one out of the area to you that needs a care package that’s a great way to do it. You can even sign up for a Farm Fresh to You Account with my referral code and receive $10.00 off of your first order!

Now, I always cook with veggies so I have no problem incorporating them into my foods. However, since I work from home I sometimes skip a meal and don’t snack, then I end up with a headache or fatigue. So I found some great ways to implement some snacking into my week using items from my Farm Fresh to You box!
The first snack is actually one that my best friend likes to make often. This consists of sliced cucumbers, sliced tomatoes, a squeeze or two of lime juice and a dusting of salt and pepper. I decided to use the mixed medley cherry tomatoes with it instead of the large tomatoes my friend usually slices up. It was amazing. The cherry tomatoes were sweet and ripe, I could just eat them plain like a grape. They were really that good!
For my second snack, I decided to make a simple fruit bowl. My husband and kids love to create fruit bowls and they eat them like they would popcorn while watching tv or reading. I decided this is a good way to incorporate snacks into my life, while I’m sitting at the computer writing or editing photos all day. This fruit bowl is a simple one, it’s just sliced up cantaloupe, some red grapes and pomegranate arils. The texture combination alone is enough to make this fruit bowl worth trying, but the explosion of flavor from the fresh, quality fruits really made this fruit bowl go up a notch. Delicious!
For my final snack I decided to include a healthy smoothie. I have a great blender and my family just loves smoothie. This is a great way to incorporate a lot of nutrition into your snack and not feel like you’re shoveling food in your face. Especially when your hands are busy typing away. I created this smoothie with one beet, 3 rainbow carrots, 1 Bartlett pear, 1/2 a mango, 8 oz coconut water and a few squeezes of agave. SUPER nutritious and delicious!
Not only am I saving time by not having to go to the store every few days to buy more produce, but I’m also beginning healthy habits by snacking on these delicious quick recipes throughout my workweek. I’d say that’s priceless, wouldn’t you?
