My daughter, RiRi, and I are avid tea drinkers. Sometimes there’s nothing better than a warm cup of tea sweetened with honey to soothe your throat. During the warmer months I’ve had sun tea almost my whole life. In addition to sun tea, I love a good sweet tea. We’ve actually accumulated quite a collection of various flavored teas and in the summer month I love to pair some of the fruitier flavors with real fruit that compliments the flavors and serve it over ice.
Fruit Infused Iced Tea
Fruit infused iced tea is perfect for summer because of the light flavors, the sweet fruitiness and it’s so pretty. Throughout the day I’m sipping on my tea whether I’m busy, relaxing, or on the go. I’m not a big juice drinker, so tea it is! I like to add a little honey with my sugar so it’s not just sugar overload. The bonus is that I buy my honey locally and it helps with my seasonal allergies as well!
We have many different flavored teas, but I really love the Bigelow Pomegranate Black tea. It has a bold flavor and smells amazing, but it’s not overwhelming. It pairs beautifully with blueberry and a bit of lime juice and garnish. Another great one is the Bigelow Perfect Peach Herb Tea. It’s a lighter flavor that’s slightly sweet and I like to add strawberries and a dash of lemon to round it out.
What are your favorite flavor combos? Do you like your tea over ice?
Pomegranate Black Iced Tea – Infused with Blueberries:
- 1-1/2 cups of boiling water
- 1 teaspoon sugar (more or less, if you prefer)
- 1/2 teaspoon local honey (more of less, if you prefer)
- 1 bag of Bigelow Pomegranate Black Tea
- 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
- 1 squeeze of lime juice
- 1 lime slice or wedge, for garnish
Peach Herbal Iced Tea – Infused with Strawberries
- 1-1/2 cups of boiling water
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar (more or less, if you prefer)
- 1/2 teaspoon local honey (more of less, if you prefer)
- 1 bag of Bigelow Perfect Peach Herb Tea
- 3 medium strawberries, sliced
- 1 squeeze of lemon juice
- 1 lemon slice or wedge, for garnish
Directions:
Begin by pouring the hot water in a large mug.
Add sugar and honey, then stir.
Then add the fruit while the tea bag is steeping in the hot water.
Once the tea is at the strength you want, remove the bag.
Repeat the process for the other flavor.
The herbal tea is a bit of a lighter flavor, this is why it doesn’t need as much sweetener.
You can add any combination of fruits and teas, whatever you think sounds best.
I just love these summery combinations.
Pour into cups to store in while they cool down – preferably something with a top!
Keep in the refrigerator until ready to pour over ice.
You can even make them the night before so they’re ready to just pour over ice.
Just before you’re ready to serve, slice up your lemon and/or lime.
Once ready to drink, pour over ice and add the squeeze of citrus and garnish.
Enjoy!
