Hey guys, guess what? Today is my birthday!!
Yes, Happy Birthday to me! Since my husband and I have birthdays within just days of each other, we often combine our days and have a big celebration for us both. We decided to do that this year, so this past Saturday night we invited friends and family over for food and drinks while we had the fight on one tv and the basketball game on the other.
There was much fun to be had, and it was super easy easy since I purchased a lot of our party food and drinks at Grocery Outlet last week! Remember, I wrote about it here? Well I shared some photos of my shopping trip and promised to share what I ended up making with a lot of that food.
You may remember the Fiesta Party pack from my shopping trip. Since my birthday falls on Cinco de Mayo, I like to serve foods that reflect that flair, aside from the fact that taquitos and guacamole are just plain ol’ yummy. Right? These were easy, we just heated in the oven and served with salsa and my guacamole recipe.
Keeping with the theme, I used the ground turkey you saw in my purchase, along with the cream cheese, sour cream and green onions and combined it with ingredients I already had on hand to make my 7 layer dip. Any excuse for chips and dips, as far as I’m concerned.
Since we obviously have a big family and kids would be in attendance, we also served the hot dogs and buns that I purchased with all the condiments necessary to go with them. My husband makes the hot dogs though, I need to post a “how to”. He slices them up, seasons them and marinades them, then bakes them in the oven. We call them his “gourmet dogs”, they’re very good!
I also made the Tyson chicken breast strips that you saw pictured, but apparently I didn’t take any photos of that. Oops! I served that with my creamy citrus honey dip that I made last week. They were a hit! Which is probably why I have no photos to share.
Moscato Berry Sangria
But what I did get in the photos was this sangria that my friends and I enjoyed. It was deeee-lish, and strong too! Perfect for the occasion, if I do say so myself. I used the bottle of Moscato that I purchased from Grocery Outlet along with another bottle I had already of Sauvignon Blanc. Paired with a bunch of berries, a lemon from our tree and a bit of Triple Sec, it was the perfect pairing for our party.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle Moscato
- 1/2 bottle Sauvignon Blanc
- 1 cup Triple Sec
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1 lemon, sliced
- *add ice as needed
Instructions
- In a large pitcher empty 1 bottle of Moscato.
- Add 1/2 a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.
- Add 1 cup of Triple Sec.
- Slice up the strawberries, then add them with blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
- Slice up a lemon, remove the seeds and add the slices.
- Stir well.
- Refrigerate for 3 hours or more to really let the flavors set in, even overnight.
- Add ice just before ready to serve. Stir and serve in wine glasses or regular glasses with a spoon to eat the drunk berries.
- Cheers!
We had a great time celebrating life with our friends and family members, it was a great night and super stress free since the shopping portion had already been taken care of.
