This time of year is extremely busy for us. After the busy holiday season is over, our lives get crazy and hectic again immediately after the New Year. We have 4 kids with birthdays from January through April, in addition to my dad as well as my son’s girlfriend. Add to that Valentine’s Day, our wedding anniversary, and Easter and by the end of April we are dragging our feet. Just when we’ve had enough cake and ice cream, my husband and I both celebrate our birthdays in the beginning of May!
Even though we complain and it seems we’re shoveling endless amounts of celebratory cake in our faces, we really do love it. All of these celebrations of life just remind us how blessed we are to be surrounded by so many loved ones. So for our birthday weekend, we decided we wanted a party of our own, with zero birthday cakes in sight! We’re having friends, family and neighbors over to have a good time and watch the fight on tv.
Bargain Market Party Planning
When I was presented to host a giveaway for two (2) $25 gift cards to Grocery Outlet as well as shop for ourselves, I knew that our birthday menu food would be purchased from Grocery Outlet. This place is like my best kept secret! Everyone has their stores they buy this at or another they may buy something else at. What I love about Grocery Outlet is that it’s not just groceries!
Take a look for yourself. (You can also follow along on Twitter | Facebook | YouTube)
There’s tons of kitchen accessories like towels, potholders, cutting boards, pots and pans, tupperware, casserole dishes. You name it, it’s there! The prices are fantastic too!
There’s also makeup and toiletries, with some great brand names! RiRi had a great time browsing all the lip glosses, nail polishes, mascaras and neutral eye shadows. You can’t see it in these photos, but there’s even clothes sold near this area.
The selections of meats are outstanding, perfect for a fun night, like what we’re planning. There’s picnic packs of chicken, ribs, hamburger meat and patties, sausage, Tri Tip, ground turkey and plenty more choices. There’s even more in the frozen section!
In addition to the meat, there’s a full selection of cheeses, dips, and creamy sauces for a great price. We picked up that big block of Velveeta, the price was a steal and I have special requests for my chili cheese dip.
There’s also a fully stocked produce section that carries most everyday fruits and vegetables you’d want. We picked up some baby carrots for our veggie tray, as well as some zucchini and green onions.
In the frozen section there’s plenty to choose from. Many different bags of chicken, all for great prices and brand names too!
One of my favorite things about Grocery Outlet is their vast amount of wines. Since I’m located in Northern California aka Wine Country there’s never a shortage of good local wines. This was just a small section of their wine selection. Which do you prefer? I picked up two, a Moscato to make a Sangria punch with and a Prosecco to make a nice sherbet drink with.
And here’s my grocery haul! All of this for under $50! Can you believe it? Plenty of food to prepare for our birthday, without breaking the budget. I’ll be back next week to share some of the creative ideas I have for this food. For now I leave you with a giveaway!
Two readers will win one (1) $25 gift card EACH. As you can see, a little goes a long way at Grocery Outlet, and who couldn’t use a little extra money towards groceries? See below for contest rules.

We love our #Escondido Grocery Outlet. The owners are fantastic and they are active with the community. They are located at East Valley Parkway in Escondido. Here are some photos from their recent grand opening.

Too bad we don’t have a Grocery Outlet. I’m always looking to get more for less.
